Some exciting news: I have been featured by Friendship Circle as volunteer of the week!
I have been volunteering at Friendship Circle for three years as part of their Children’s Circle program. I love volunteering at Friendship Circle for its sense of community and dedication towards helping others. Volunteering there, I feel that I’m truly making a difference in a child’s life as I build long lasting friendships with both the volunteers and children. Most importantly, Friendship Circle has instilled in me values that I will carry for the rest of my life. The patience I’ve developed helps me in any school or work environment; the compassion I’ve strengthened helps me build better, more understanding relationships; the creativity I’ve enhanced helps me with problem solving and other difficult tasks.
Friendship Circle has inspired me in so many ways. Volunteering with children with special needs, I deepened my passion for neuroscience: to understand the neurological and scientific causes of many of their struggles. From this initial interest, I continued doing research and realized I wanted to make a resource to teach people about neuroscience. Overall, combining my personal experience with epilepsy and my volunteering at Friendship Circle, I was inspired to teach others and spread awareness on neuroscience by creating this website.
